Problems printing on HP DJ 3630

    Product: HP DJ 3630
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)

    I have 2 laptops both Windows 10 64 Bit.
On one I have no issues and printing works flawlessly.
On the other I cannot print.
If I do a test print I get error message Test page failed to print would you like to view print troubleshooter for assistence ? The paraneter is incorrect as shown below.

If use HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1 no errors are found and it seems like printing should work.
I find that I can print via HP Smart program so I presume problem is with Windows 10 which I cannot understand as on another Windows 10 laptop I have no issues.
    Please can someone help.
    Thank you.

Are both computers on the same version of Windows, eg 1803 or 1809? If so have you attemtedto uninstall all the HP software and reinstalled the drivers from the current ones on HP's site?

    Hi,

No, one is on 1709 and the other is 1803.

The problem is with laptop on Windows 10 1709.

Please note that laptop with Windows 10 1709 did not have any issue about 2 weeks ago.

Thank you for all help given.

How are you connecting to the printer (USB on one computer and shared to the other, or using WiFi to allow a network connection between both computers)? Have you uninstalled the Device and Driver, along with associated software from both computers then reboot and tried to reinstall the software again, after setting the printer to use your Wireless Network?

Problems printing on HP DJ 3630

    Hi,

I have been on HP's forums and was suggested to try creating a new user account and install the printer drivers on it -
    1) Tap the Windows icon.
    2) Select Settings.
    3) Tap Accounts.
    4) Select Family & other users.
    5) Tap "Add someone else to this PC."
    6) Select "I don't have this person's sign-in information."
    7) Select "Add a user without a Microsoft account."
    8) Enter a username, type the account's password twice, enter a clue and select Next.
    9) Tap the Windows icon.
    10) Select the User icon at the upper left corner of the Start menu.
    11) Select the new user. You'll then sign into your account with your password from step 8.

This worked and I could print normally on laptop with problem which suggest user account has problem.

    I then -

Uninstall the printer drivers and restart the computer.

    Run System File Checker -

    1) Select Start, and in the search box, enter Command Prompt. Press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.
    2) Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the spaces before each "/").
    3) Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").

Re-install the printer drivers and check if that fixed the issue.

and found that I still had problem.

My next step would to try resetting the computer -

    1) Right click on the start icon and open "Settings".
    2) Click on "Update & Security" > Recovery.
    3) Click on "Reset this PC".
    4) Click on "Keep my files" and follow the on-screen instructions.

I am reluctant to try resetting computer as if I reset PC apps and settings will be lost.

Any ideas what could be done to resolve issue?

Thank you for all help given.

Does your Reliability History give any clues as to the cause of the problem?

    Hi,

I am connecting both wired and networked and both have same issue.

As to reliability history it shows successful driver and software installation for HP Deskjet 3630 series.

    All help appreciated.

    Thank you.

Found this on another forum, And it worked like a charm with me.

This is an annoying work around .The drivers in the downloadable software need updating to the correct ones.

To get the printer to work I had to:

    1.Go to 'Printers & Scanners'

2.Press 'Add Printer or Scanner'. Even though the deskjet 3630 showed up in the list i then clicked on
'The printer i want isn't listed'.

3.Select 'My printer is a little older.Help me find it.' The Deskjet 3630 showed up in the list .
I then pressed 'Windows update'. This downloaded a list of drivers. Find HP in the manufacturer list.

4.Go through them all until you find the right printer

5.Keep clicking next to install it.

6.I pressed 'Do not share this printer' on the next section.

I read this on another forum and it worked straight away.
