less or more expensive mouspad, any difference??

Is there any real difference between an expensive mouse pad (like 3M) and a cheap mouse pad without name? Or is it just a legend that shouldn't have much difference??????????

Or is it a problem of my windows setting??

My mouse is often wireless, because I hate cables..

What are those control problems ? Did you try Mouse properties in control panel ?


You can adjust pointer speed, click options etc.

I'm thinking it shouldn't matter all that much if your using a decent quality laser mouse? Anything other than a mirror should be a fine surface.
I know in the early days I avoided the shiny plastic pads and prefered the dull cloth ones.
These days I use track balls so what track pad I use doen't really matter. I only use one because mine has a padded palm rest.

Yes, i used this same trackball in the past. do they still have the same issue of the ball and socket needed cleaning quite often? That was the main reason I quit using it. seems almost daily the ball would have to be removed and cleaned and cleaning out the contacts in the socket?

Sorry, I didn't reply to the OP, I use whatever is available. With my notebooks and working remotely at a different location I just use whatever tabletop or desktop I can set my notebook up on. At home, I have an old Neoprene pad that my wife insists that I use. On my 2 Desktops, I have so old plastic sheet that is dark grey with some lines on it. I bought this many years ago and have forgotten what it was called but it was specifically designed for the old analog mice I use a Piece of sticky cloth under it to keep it in place. Seems it was a full 8x11 sheet that I cut up into 4 sections still works great and trash doesn't build up on the legs as it will on a plain desktop. the current reversion of Digital mice don't really care what you use, the laser used will work on just about any surface. It comes down to personal taste and preference.

I do that once or twice a month maybe. All depends on how clean you keep your fingers etc. If your say eating snacks with the same hand you use the trackball it will get gunked up pretty quickly. There are always advantages and disadvantages to things.

Yes, I see they are wireless now too, think I'll try one again. I don't snack or drink around my computer/Notebooks even though replacement keyboards can be quite cheap nowadays, not so much for notebooks. So I have trained myself to just not do it.
