Ok well there must be a driver installed for that internal wifi device then can you not see it in the Device Manager??

Now I would have thought that another KB that has a dongle would just hook up without this going on - have you tried HP support where you are??

Just as a by the by what model is the machine??

#24-n020qe. HP Support is just suggesting 10 things. None of which will likely work.

I can see the other HID Keyboard driver was installed when I first plugged in the new keyboard. Not sure why Windows needed both.

There is a way to permanently uninstall a driver by using Group Policy but Windows 10 Home does not have Group Policy. There is a way to add GP but too much work that I do not want to do unless I know it will work.

I found a neat trick to change the driver of a device to another driver that is not compatible with the machine which essentially disables it. It seems to be working now but I wouldn't bet on it correcting the issue long term.

A keyboard and mouse can be Wireless without a dongle but it usually means they are Bluetooth [a shorter range version of Wireless and commonly used by Apple's iMac computers]. Bluetooth is usually a part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter and usually has its own listing on Device Manager but maybe looking in the Network Adapter will list it. I have a few Notebooks with Bluetooth and use Bluetooth mice with them.

Yep Berton is right it could be Blutooth and yes mate there is a group policy in 10 though it may not be in the Home version although the specs recommend 10 Pro and I am not sure of that or what to change in there even if you do get it .

Just type group policy in Type here to search.

On searching that model to I see it says to have McAfee as the security app if it does I would get rid of it as it is a piece of rubbish and personally I prefer Eset these days for a very user friendly security suite.

It is 10 Home. Bluetooth is disabled. There is a way to go into GP and prevent drivers from automatically installing. One of the first things I did was get rid of McAfee.

So far so good with the fix I did earlier but I might have to go to a USB keyboard if I can not find a permanent solution. It is my mother's computer and she hates cords but she might have to live with it.

Well I suppose it s more expense but what about another Blu tooth KB although in my experience Blu tooth can be very finicky at times - for example I have fond that often cheaper mice connect better than a expensive one.

Personally I run all my desktops with wired USB KB's but there again I have office desks in my comp room so the cablesre not visible. Besides the cable isn't going to have to be dragged around like a mouse would be eh?
