Lenovo ideapad 300 - Windows 10 draining main drive space.

The hard drive in this laptop is huge and although I keep large files it has plenty of free space normally. Only after the last time I had to reboot due to a blue screen OneDrive did not sync as it used to leaving the hard drive with less than half its normal size. I resorted in plugging in a SSD and managed to move all the files onedrive was leaving on my PC, but that hasn't resolved the issue. The size of my drive is even smaller!!! It should be near 700GB and is only 300GB...

Hi Juanlu Verano. Welcome to the TenForums @Juanlu Verano

If you are using onedrive does the icon in the notification tray (Systray) show signed in?

If you could post a screen shot of disk management following this tutorial

Disk Management - How to Post a Screenshot of

At some point you will want to run a chkdsk but I would first post Disk Management so members can comment?

When you got the BSOD did it produce any error code / message that you can share?

Do you know of any changes made just before BSOD... hardware changes, software changes or alterations to configuration type files?

Here can be seen what I believe is left free in my C drive 260MB [(?)-no way! from originally 900GB, where is all gone?!?]...then another partition (LENOVO D:) which I believe it to be a safety module I don't know. The other 1000MB healthy partitions I have no idea what part are playing nor the one with 19.82GB. They all say Recovery partition but I wish I could believe the term and recover the amount of space I used to have just to carry on with ease. Here's the screenshot and thank you for the interest shown.

    Your drive looks okay.

The 260 MB EFI is where the partition that the BIOS hands off to to see what to boot.

Your C: drive is listed as 885GB with 303 GB of free space.

The other partitions are recovery partitions. One or two likely present when you bought machine. (One marked Lenovo and one labelled OEM) You can likely reclaim those at some point. The other two 1 GB are likely from different version of Windows 10.

Bottom line from your picture C: is almost 900GB and it has 303GB free.

You didn't answer is your onedrive icon in your system tray showing you signed in. I don't see the icon in your screen prints so you will have to click on the up arrow to show hidden icons.

Apologies for my belated reply. Yes, your estimation of the drive upon the screenshot I sent sounds right to me, but it keeps deteriorating no matter how. So yes My C drive is almost 900GB and now has just 290GB free.

OneDrive is unlinked from my PC since it did started to malfunction (or I don't know what) and taking space from the main drive like never before. Further than that it's taken control of my desktop in a way that I can\t open anything in it unless I am signed to OneDrive.

Other issue is that reading further in the forum and with the help of Microsoft Support I was advice to backup everything and reset the machine. Somethine I couldn't do by the traditional method of running Windows backup because that wasn't working either. Someone in the Ten-forums recommended the use of backing up with Macrium Reflect which I went to purchase and run BUT did not work either. It did stop the backup by encountering a number of VSS errors heavens know what that is...and how to get around it. The thing is that I have been spending money on this machine that came to me as a present (from hell, I'd say) and if I can't get it to work by my own means or the help of someone online (i.e.yourselves) I will ditch it or give it away or something. Shame really...
    Thank you for your support.

    Juan

    Sorry to hear this.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean One Drive is malfunctioning.

I don't use onedrive except for a few files. Onedrive can be set up to store everything in the cloud or everything in the cloud with some duplicated on local drive. Of course you could have it so that all is duplicated on the local drive.

Tenforums has several informational tutorial on OneDrive.

Choose Folders for OneDrive Selective Sync in Windows 10

If you look at the bottom of the tutorial there are links to several other tutorials on Onedrive.

When you setup Onedrive what were your goals, I guess a simpler question, why are you using Onedrive? It has lots of uses but if members could understand what you wanted to achieve then possible they could help with issue.
