Today, December 10, I booted into safe mode and used DDU to uninstall Intel HD Graphics Driver. Then I rebooted the PC and re-installed the latest version via WUMT.

Dpwnload the drivers before so you won't need an internet connection until everything is working OK
I downloaded Intel HD Graphics Driver 20.19.15.4624 from Intel HD Graphics Driver 20.19.15.4624 for Windows 10 Anniversary Update 64-bit Windows 10 driver download - Windows 10 Download
However, when I tried to install it, I got the following:

Use the browse for driver option from within Device Manager and try the driver options you are presented with or manually install your driver of choice from there.

Within Device Manager, I selected "Browse my computer for driver software". Then, under "Search for drivers in this location", I selected the folder containing Intel HD Graphics Driver and clicked on "OK" --> "Next". Then I got the message shown in my post #31 above.

I have already installed the latest version via WUMT.

the latest for your CPU seems to be Version 15...not 20. though Intel's Site never makes it easy to be sure the way they change product names.... maybe i have the wrong CPU?

Intel Processor G3240 (3M Cache, 3.10 GHz) Product Specifications

    Graphics Driver:

Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics for 4th Generation Intel® Processors

there are also reported issues with some of Intels latest Drivers in the 20 series corrupting Windows 10 I saw latest week, not sure if that is your issue though?

Well thats definately the wrong driver in post 31, should be showing as Intel- your showing the MS default.

Is there another driver showing as problematic or unknown??
if so check to see whats wrong in the details tab, suspect codes 10/20 or 43

Do you have/can you install the Intel graphics control panel ??

You could also run a utility such as Aida64 or Speccy to see which Intel CPU you have and download the appropriate driver. Also a utility such as Snappy Driver Install will automatically find any driver for you.

Yesterday, I re-installed the driver. Today, the same malfunction happened at 13:06, a minute or two after Windows started. At 13:09 I cut off the power supply and then powered up the PC again and turned it back on. At 13:13, soon after Windows started, the same malfunction happened again. It is 14:10 at this moment. I am waiting for the next malfunction.

The screenshot in my post #38 shows that the driver version of Intel HD Graphics is 20.19.15.4531.
Google found this: Intel HD Graphics 4400 Driver 20.19.15.4531 for Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10 driver download - Windows 10 Download
Should I download it as a backup?
