I have entered the BIOS screen many times but seen no sign of image tearing.
PSUs are cheap. Buy a new one and see if the problem is gone. Even better, give it for diagnosis to a computer service. You may make an agreement not to pay until notified of the cost or at least pay the minimum amount for the test.
That wasn't true in my case.
About 18 months ago, my motherboard (ASUS Aura) also "died peacefully" and just wouldn't POST anymore. But even after I replaced it, my CPU (AMD FX8320) never worked properly after that. In the end, I had to replace the CPU as well as the mobo.
In my case, I suspect there had been a power spike that hurt both the mobo and the CPU.
If you do not have spare power supply to test, the cheaper option is to get the computer to a professional service for check. Arrange with them to inform you of the cost before replacing any component. In case you don't want to fix it, you should pay a minimum amount for the check.
Screen freezing is often a graphics card problem, normally a TDR [timeout detection and response].Check your Reliability History and see if any reports are there, with nvidea, the prime suspect is nvlddmkm.sys.The best method for uninstall/reinstall graphics card drivers is to use DDU--in safe mode--disconnected from the internet.
On the next freeze,try----win+ctrl+shift+b keys, this resets the graphic drivers and might do the job.
What happens if you boot into Safe Mode where minimal drivers are loaded? If this works, then a clean install of the GPU drivers might work.
A wild card suggestion is to reflash the BIOS in case a minor corruption has caused the issue. Load the BIOS defaults after doing this.
