8TB Ext HD Drive w/ Micro-USB 3.0 Port (USB 3.1 Gen 1)??

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad P51 and am looking at this:

Elsewhere it says that it comes with a Micro-USB 3.0 Port (USB 3.1 Gen 1) connector. Is this the connector that plugs into the back of the drive and then on the other end there is a regular USB 3.0 connector that plugs into the back of my computer? The ports on the back of my computer look like this:



Am I good to go purchasing this one without any connection problems? TIA.

The C type port from a practical view seems to be the coming replacements for the standard USB ports. The importance would be the cable, needs a C type plug to use the computer's C port and the other end needs to be proper for what the External HDD needs. At this point I'd check what cable comes with the HDD and go with that as you have choices whereas Tablets may have only the C type, it's all in sizing of the devices, anything to make them smaller and lighter.

Model numbers for the drives are the same at BestBuy and B&H. So I am still confused : ) BestBuy specs seem to indicate that I am good to go however the B&H specs give me pause. TIA.

Seagate's specs for STEB8000100 says USB3 not USBC. I have the 4GB version, 2 months old and that's USB3 lead although the "box end" plug is a Seagate type, pretty much the same as the WD lead, not a normal USB one, suspect the second site has made an error in either the model number or the connection or it's supplying a Seagate to USBC lead with it or possibly a C adapter, got one here, not sure what it came with but I'm guessing one of my Seagate Backup drives.

Looking at the BH page indicates to me a second cable would be necessary if wanting to use USB 2 or USB 3 port, again it's what is included in the package. Just because it is backward compatible with USB 2 doesn't always mean all the necessary parts are included. Since you have both USB 3 and USB C ports available I wouldn't be concerned about USB 2.

Yes, as the above picture indicates of the back of my notebook I do have a USB C port. So bottom line is it your opinion that whatever connecting cable comes with the drive obviously one end is going to be connected to the drive and more then likely whatever the other end looks like it will at the very least able to plug into the USB C port on the back of my computer? Is that how you read it? TIA.

By second site you mean the BestBuy one of the B&H one?

I guess the bottom line for me and trying to keep it as simple as possible do you believe out of the box that I will be able to obviously plug one end of the connector into the drive and the other end of the connector into either my USB 3.0 port or my USB C port on the back of my computer?

B&H site doesn't match the Specs as given by Seagate site.

The drive end of the lead has a special plug to fit the Seagate pattern Socket, the PC end has a normal USB 3 plug,

This is from a Backup plus drive but it's the same socket

Thanks. OK, good. Obviously I was not too terribly concerned with the plug/ connector that is supplied out of the box and the part that fits into the back of the drive but as you all can see my paranoia kicked in when I became concerned whether or not the other end would fit into one of my ports in the back of my notebook. Thanks again. I believe I am good to go then. As an aside I certainly do not know what the general consensus is regarding B&H but the few times I have contacted them they were not particularly helpful. There return policy is certainly not as liberal as other outlets. BestBuy here I come : )
