    Remove HP LaserJet Printer Bloatware?

I've been naughty and installed a non-HP cartridge in my LaserJet P1005. I now get a nag screen about using a non HP cartridge when I print. I disabled the service hpsupportsolutionsframeworkservice.exe in Autoruns which stops the nag screen.

The programs shown below were installed with the HP driver. Presumably I can uninstall these and just keep the driver?

    Hi Steve C

I had a smilar issue and uninstalled it after looking at the files installed by the driver package below.
No issues for me after uninstalling.

    Never tried re-enabling the
    hpsupportsolutionsframeworkservice.exe though.

Would be intersting to know if this removes the the service file as welland prevents the nag entirely !

    Steve,

When I had an HP DeskJet it had an option to suppress those nags. The option was provided in either
    HP printer assistant
    or
the full configuration tool "EWS" accessed at, in this particular case, http://192.168.2.100/ [the TF editor keeps making this an active link but it is not]
Whichever it was in, it must have been straightforward because I didn't keep any notes about setting it.

For many of its printers, HP support provides the choice of downloading a full software package or just the driver. So you could try uninstalling what you have now and then just installing the driver. However, you might find that it is the driver includes the nag & the rest of the software that provides for suppressing the nag.

As for your question, uninstalling specific parts of your current setup, as long as you make a system image beforehand you should be fine because you can revert if it all goes wrong.
Note 1 Given that you have already found a way to get rid of the nags, why are you bothering to go any further? Exactly what benefit are you hoping for?
Note 2 When I tried uninstalling a separate HP component after installation [in my case, "HP device experience"], I found that the installation was corrupted & I had to repeat the full installation [and I omitted the unwanted component using options provided during the installation]. Perhaps this might be a risk for you too.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

I uninstalled the bloatware and just kept the driver - all is fine without any nags. HP's web site now only lists the basic driver anyway, although I did keep the full driver package from a few years ago.
