laptop making noise on startup - sign of trouble ahead?

For the last week my laptop has started making a jet engine noise when I turn it on. Once it's going it's fine and it quietens down to normal. Might this be a sign that things are soon to go kaput?

I've had the laptop for about two years, use it every day.

    It's a HP with Intel Core i5-6200U CPU 2.3GHz 8GB RAM 64bit.

That would be the cooling fans working at full blast until the system has booted and takes control. I have a laptop that does that on occasion (but not always). There appears to be no predictable pattern that I can see. As this starts early in the boot up before the OS has loaded there may be a bios setting that can modify this behaviour, but I haven't found one yet...

I wouldn't worry too much, mine has been that way for years and not died yet
