D:\... is unavailable (My Secondary HDD for Data)

Hello everyone,

I have a SSD (C drive for programs) and an HDD (D drive for documents). My HDD is circa 5 years old and until yesterday it ran without problems. It didn't even become noticeable slower for me.

Now I get the following error trying to access it:


Opening Disk Management shows the drive as uninitialized and trying to initialze it fails:


I haven't done any Windows Beta updates, just the forced updates were installed, which is out of my reach :)

Can you guys help me out and give me some advise what I can try?

Welcome to Ten Forums.

I just had a look at your post this my morning and was mulling over it on where to start. By evening now, when I had a relook at it, it wore a solved mark - with none here contributing to it.. Just curious to know how you solved it - since to my understanding it is a difficult task though we can investigate and check whether it is still possible.. If you have really resolved the issue and were able to recover the disk, please let us know how you did it. It could help many others in the same predicament.
