SSD Compatibility - can I use this type of SSD?

I was hoping to purchase a Samsung 860 EVO M.2 SATA 1TB SSD for my Laptop alongside the current HDD however, I was just wanting to confirm whether the SSD is in fact compatible. I am 99% sure that it is I just want to make sure prior to buying it.

Yes, it looks like an M.2 max length of 80mm (2280), you would have to double check that, and whether it would take double sided modules.

You referenced an 80 mm long (2280) M.2 one which are very common in a Desktop.

The socket is M-keyed. The SSD is M- and B-keyed so it will work in either M- or B-keyed sockets.

Helmut's concern is valid - I can't tell from the photo whether a 2280 drive will fit. But you can easily check by measuring the distance from the socket to that last screw in the foreground.

Thanks for the reply, I went ahead and check the manual https://global-download.acer.com/GDF...924.1537352665 and also did not notice that the manual does not mention anything about an SSD which is strange.

Also, a while back I watched this video and I just realised the SSD is the same type. The laptop the is used is extremely similar to my current one.

Just verified that from the screw to the slot is 80mm / 8 cm
