Partitioning USB drive

Is there anyway to partition a USB drive into 2 separate "drives" ?

So i got a 128GB usb thumb drive, i can partition it into 2 64GB partitions, however, with the way android works, if i format it to work as internal and select one 64GB partition, android will format the entire 128GB drive and encrypt it so only my phone can use it. i can't plug it into any other computer and use the 2nd 64GB partition as normal storage. anyone know of a way around this? simply splitting into 2 partitions is not working. maybe something that fakes it being 2 separate drives all together so i can format the 1st one and have it work as internal storage?

Yes, any partitioning tool will do it. Same as any other hard drive I use Minitool Partition Wizard I think there free version will do the job

so what would i be doing with this tool?

Creating a 2nd partition. KB is good for this program. I just shrink the current partition leaving empty space and create another partition in the empty space.. You might even be able to do it in disk management I don't know for sure since I don't use it much. if so the same principle shrink the current partition leaving unused space to create a 2nd partition

If for some reason you want to change the type of partition say from FAT to NTFS then format and only use the first half of the drive that will leave the rest of the disk unused space that you can create a 2nd partition in. so i understand how to create a partition, if i do this, android will disregard the partitions and reformat the entire 128GB drive. then there is no way to go back and change partitions without it getting corrupt when plugging it back into android.

i need to "fake" the drive as though there is 2 separate drives. this way i can plug 64GB drive into android to have it format it to use and then i can use the other one as i please.

You can get third party support for NTFS in Android , but I've never done it and I don't know how reliable it is or what the restrictions are.
You could even multi partition and multi file format the drive if you have the right software to do it, going as far as getting multi boot OS' on to it. Probably best to avoid all those complications first time around though.

I'd just go for FAT or exFAT if you want to be able to see it from as many devices as possible with the minimum of fuss.
Most USB flash drives will be formatted FAT32 when you buy them.

Be aware that Windows has a limit of partition size of 32GB when using FAT32. I prefer either the bootable GPARTED LiveCD or the same program included in a number of LiveDVD Linux distributions to work with drives Windows has problems doing. I haven't seen a Windows-based installer yet. The bootable ODD/Optical Disc Drive works without regards to the installed OS/Operating System.

To clarify - Windows has a 32GB limit when creating a fat32 partition but can read and write to larger partitions created by 3rd party tools.

I don't think u guys understand what I'm trying to get at here.

I know I can partition a USB drive into however many I want and whatever size I want. The problem is, when andoid reformats the partition to use at internal, it reformats the ENTIRE drive. Not just the partition I selected.

There is nothing I can do on Android because I'm not rooted. So, in windows, is there a way to partition the drive into 2 partitions but make it look like to Android and windows that it's 2 separate drives rather than a single drive with 2 partitions? This way when I select the first partition on Android to use as internal, it WONT format the entire drive. Just that partition.
