    How to choose RAM (memory)?

Hi, I got Notebook computer Acer Aspire E5-576, i5 4 GB memory. (Windows 64 bit Japanese OS)
I want to add 8 GB memory.
I wonder how to choose which memory I could use in this computer?
Or what points should I consider when I buy memory?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

The laptop uses DDR3 SODIMMs. I don't know what the nominal frequency is, but Crucial suggests 1600 MHz. I don't know what the best source would be in Japan.

The laptop has two slots. What you'll need to buy depends on what is already present. If the 8GB is from a single SODIMM, then you'd need one more. If it is two 4GB modules, you'll need to replace both with 8GB modules.

Hi, no problem it is ok and thanks for concern.
After reading posts here then I contacted my computer support and I got the following reply (from Japanese to English translation)

    Memory slot specification:

Initial installed memory capacity: 4 GB.
Number of slots (free): 2 (1).
Memory standard: DDR 3 L - 1600 MHz SDRAM * Dual channel compatible.
    Number of clocks: 1600 MHz.
    Maximum capacity: 32 GB.

Does memory cost matter? there are various brands available cheaper and costly. Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

I suggest getting CPU-Z to check you current configuration. The main thing you'd want to know is whether you have two 4GB SODIMMs installed, or one 8 GB. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

As the initial configuration was 4GB, it could be either way. That determines what SODIMMs you'd have to buy to go to 16 GB. (If you have a single 8GB one in place, adding another would do it. If you have 2 X 4GB, you need to buy two 8 GB, or a single 16 GB.)

I don't know what RAM to recommend for Japan. I've had good luck with Corsair, Gskill, and Crucial (Micron), but there are other good makes. My main desktop is running a couple of Corsair DDR4 DIMMs at the moment. I'm pleased with them, but they have LEDs, which I find slightly embarrassing.
