portable hard drive concern

Hi, I've got a number of portable hard drives but they are often not really portable, I only use them home but from time to time, especially for the Seagate one, where it didn't come with rubber pads at the bottom, from time to time, I could accidentally move it a little bit (very little bit probably less than 1 cm) during its operation.

Is it bad enough to the spinning hard drive? or am I overreacting? and that shouldn't be any problems unless it falls or drops from height or moving it vigorously and intentionally?

its pretty similar to russian roulette , i have a brother who had a habit of holding the drive in hand before unplugging it , he had been doing it for his hdd for well over a year that made me believe those things are solid as hell but then one day puff the media is gone , soooo continue being cautious but not obsessively cautious .

I guess if you are really concerned you could make your own rubber like pads using Silicone caulk and cornstarch.
