16 Pin to... I'm guessing... USB?

My wife runs an HP DesignJet 500. It's an old printer but she tied to it because of software. Anyway --

-- it has a 16 Pin situation coming out of it. Is there a cord that converts it to, say, USB?

(I've already Googled but got vague results. Does it have a different name?)

If it were me.... I would just use the USB connection that is built into the printer already:

Looks like it might be this type of cable:

But, going way back into the recesses of my memory, if you really want to use the parallel port interface on the printer instead of the USB port, I believe it is this:

Now THERE'S a good idea. I wonder if there was a problem when they tried this before. IF they tried THAT before, I should say. I'll do some research. Here's the exact item and its pins --

Oh -- and thanks for your reply, NavyLCDR.

That is a full size Centronics parallel connection not a mini. But I would try the USB connection first.

16 pins? I think there are a few more than that (36).

(Yes, using the USB port rather than the parallel port is indeed an option.)

HP has drivers that are supposed to support Win 10 X64. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers...r-series/25301

You may have to re-install the drivers to establish the connection via USB.

Well THAT gives me hope, doesn't it?

Thanks everyone. It will be a few weeks before I can report back results.
