Issue with SSD not appearing in windows Explorer

The thread title virtually says it all, but I'll try and explain what happened as much as I can.

After playing a game online with my laptop plugged in, I put it to sleep and left the room.

About an hour later, I came back and tried loading the same game through Steam.

It didn't work, and I thought I needed to close Steam through the task manager.

It didn't appear in the task manager.

I then opened my File Explorer to find that the D Drive (my SSD) didn't appear at all.

I tried restarting my laptop (both through safe mode and without), and I've had no luck.

I spent almost £1000 on this laptop, and it took a long time to save up for it, I can't bear to lose this reliable machine.

If anyone can provide a fix or some advice for where to go from this point, I'll be eternally grateful.

Hi, what does Disk Management show?

It wouldn't appear in explorer if it had somehow lost its drive letter.

Hopefully you have a disk image or full backup, just in case.

Disk management shows the C Drive, Disk 0 partition 1 and Disk 0 partition 4

Both partition 4 and the C Drive are NTFS.

I don't understand any of this.

I haven't the means for a full backup, my SSD was something like 400GB, I think.

8GB of memory is plenty, although here it’s installed in a single-channel configuration. That’s a double-edged sword: the single stick means it’s simple to upgrade, but it won’t be as fast as two 4GB modules running in dual-channel mode. Storage is divided between an 128GB Hynix SSD and a 1TB hard disk. That former component uses the M.2 interface, but don’t expect fast speeds – it still relies on SATA bandwidth, rather than the quicker PCI Express interface.

For the sake of argument, download and install Minitool Partition Wizard (free) and post a screenshot of what it shows. Expand all columns as necessary to show text completely.

I'm puzzled- I'd have thought Windows would have been on your SSD (faster). Yet you say drive D: is on it. What does it contain?
