    Got A Printer Problem

The other day my HP Office Jet Pro 6830 Ink Jet quit printing in color. While troubleshooting it I got an HP Driver Update through WU. It didn't solve the printing problem, but it has really slowed down the printing. Takes three or four times longer for a page to start printing and has a delay between multiple pages. Using the PH Print and Scan Doctor utility finds nothing wrong. Still no color print, and yes I've checked the ink cartridges. I've also cleared and reset the Print Spooler and Que. Anyway today I start poking around and find this:

Question is How Do I Finish Installing a Driver? Any help is appreciated

Try unplugging USB cable from PC and Printer remove all entries in Program and Features having to do with HP printer reboot PC try installing driver again don't hook USB to PC until told to in install. Driver itself can be updated and removed from the Device Manager.

Setting here wearing a big grin @jds63 I had went to the menu but figured "Set Up" wasn't for maintenance. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Oh well, there went my excuse for replacing this thing with a nice LaserJet.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Ah, so the head cleaning worked then ?
Usually when not using printer for long time, old cartridges and room temps can cause this.

Yep, but it's still slow to start printing. I'll fight with the driver thing some more. That's about all the weather's good for anyway.

It is installed, look at the last Event information. I use an HP Officejet Pro 6230 which I would think is similar.

Using the EWS way > Tools > Utilities > Print Quality Toolbox > Clean Printhead.

The first page in a session takes a very long time, it's doing a lot of calibration/alignment subsequent pages are a lot faster. Nothing is wrong.

Good morning all. Anything sent to the printer is slow to start printing. I've got a couple of fairly simple financial reports I print regularly and both are noticeably than they were before.

FWIW, I've now been through the three step Clean Printheads three times. Since completing the first pass now the blue color is "faded" from the original set up. And three runs through the Align Printheads are all failing now.

Still haven't figured out how to "finish" installing that driver.

I may end up having to give up and go with a LaserJet after all.

As far as slow printing did you check my link on post # 6 ? Using Clean Printheads uses a lot of ink up so 3x's is a lot.
Assume you know the levels of ink left in cartridges.

When you printed a test page for alignment it was off, why you ran this alignment ?

Thought you originally installed this driver before, most drivers are installed before hooking the USB cable until prompted to.
How old is this All in One ?

It'll be three years old in December.

And now without any intervention from me, it's back to normal.
