    Yes first line.

    It appears that is like a power on password. (or a BIOS password)

    Not sure how but it then could likely block access to the device by windows.

    Before doing.... Do you have a power on password or a hardware password. My understanding is you don't use the fingerprint scanner at all, correct?

    Actually I would like you to take a picture like you did but this time let us see what the description says on right, like second screen shot.

    No password on bios and yes I dont use fingerprint on boot!

    Kindly confirm you want me to do

    Disable > Predesktop Authentication
    Internal only > Reader Priority

    Crap.... wish they explained predesktop.

    Yes please disable predesktop and Internal only.

    I wish every vendor would publish the BIOS in a manual.

    So the device is still not enable. Lets return the bios to the way you found it Enabled.

    You showed us the security tab. Can you provide a screen shot of the major headings for the other tabs.

    At this point I will "de-lurk" to observe that it's looking like a hardware or connection problem with the fingerprint reader itself. Is the laptop still under warranty? If so you may qualify for free repair/replacement.
    Just a thought...
