    No. You will still be able to skip entering a key if asked and it will activate from your machine's digital license on Microsoft's activation servers.

    And the clock under the service tag in the BIOS main menu, can that be changed to accurately reflect the current time, or is that only affected when I flash a BIOS update?
    It's unusual for you not to be able to set the time and date in the bios. However, the next time Windows checks against a time server and resets the time it should also set the time of the bios clock.

    These batteries are so cheap I would always replace them especially if the open circuit voltage has dropped below 3V. Your BIOS settings will revert to their defaults and you will need to reset them.

    I had similar boot problems once which was traced to a faulty +5V standby circuit in the PSU. This happened on two XFX PSUs!
