how make win7 or xp use only 1 of many ssd drives in my PC

My Win10 PC has swappable drive bays. Win 10 runs on one of the swappable drives. there are 4 additional fixed data drives that win 10 uses. I want to add an XP or Win7 OS on a swappable drive to run only games and flight simulators. Is there any way to keep the game/simulator OS from accessing any other drive on the PC other than itself? I have had corruption issues when allowing different OS's access the same data drive and I am trying to prevent that from happening again.

Any feedback will be most appreciated.

Remove drive letters of other drives when using Windows 7.

    Hi there.

My own view of this would be to run XP and W7 as Virtual machines -- you could also dedicate complete physical (RAW) HDD'ss to the relevant VM so the VM would only see those HDD's - and they'd be isolated from the HOST Windows system and its HDD's .

You could create the VM's with VMWare player -- free , HYPER-V (free - need W10 pro though not Home) or VBOX (also free).

Plenty of info on the forums about how to set up and use Virtual machines.

The other advantage of running these as Virtual Machines is that you can run them concurrently with your current Windows session so no dual / triple booting etc.

Even if you use hot swappable disks you don't have to power on the VM's if you've unplugged the XP / W7 HDD's either.

Seems a perfect setup for running VM's.

These days games / graphics have so much improved on VM's that unless absolutely hard core modern GPU intensive stuff the games should run -- especially if you are running stuff back from XP days.

    Cheers

I briefly considered VMs ...the only experience I have with them was in the long ago with less than desirable results. Maybe they are considerably improved to the point they would fit the bill now.

    Thanks...I'll study up on 'em.

As stated, once you get either Windows 7 or XP installed, go to Disk Management, right click each of the drives you do not want that OS to access, and choose Change Drive Letter or Paths, choose Drive Letter None. Those drives will only be accessible in Disk Management in that OS but not Windows, and they will be accessible if you boot into any other OS.
