    no audio device detected

when I plug my headphones into the front panel audio jack, a dialog box pops up, like this one:

    no audio device detected-headphones.jpg

Yet sound is turned off. I can look at this dialog box as well:

    no audio device detected-headphones1.jpg

    no audio device detected-headphones3.jpg

    Any help is appreciated.

Hi, sorry, must be missing something obvious.

Which is the question you are asking?
    a. Is this your problem? I plug my headphones in, they are detected, but there's no sound
    b. Title is:
    no audio device detected
clearly the headphones are, so to which device are you referring?
    c. What concerns you in your screenshots- the stopping status of Audiosrv?

Try the troubleshooter- right click the Volume icon in your tray.
    Click Troubleshoot sound problems.
Please post a screenshot of the result.

    History- when did this start?
    - Do you have any idea what happened that might have led to this?

Do you have any relevant system restore points?

    Thanks.

I would add tow questions to the above (dalchina's post)

    Headphones are working?
Sound isn't muted (and anything is playing? -test produces no sound either)
    Check in settings:

I did not stop the audioservice. Troubleshoot sound shows the usual troubleshoot message: nothing.

    This started yesterday.

I'm checking further, switching the sound device to bluetooth and seeing if that works.

If so, then it's probably the front jacks (my guess).

I rebooted, gave it a bit of time, and now it all works. Wish I knew why and why not.
