Have you tried an older, e.g. Windows 7 driver in Compatibility Mode? If not give that a try.

The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a download for every HP Printer, including yours.
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers.../model/3919447
    Under Utility-Diagnostic Tools.

You will at least get a basic driver, though it may lack some useful features.

I had the same issue with W10 and my HP Laserjet 6L, went through every thread I could find on the web, tried everything, never got it to print with W10.
It works fine straight off the bat in Linux (Mint) however, so there's always that option.

Did you try the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which two previous threads (Helmut's and mine) point to apparently with some success?

I did try both suggestions with no success.Could not get the new driver to install or scan doctor. When I tried a message came up that said another instance is already in progress. Can't find anything running at all so gave up.What I did do is plugged the printer in the laptop without installing anything.Would not work of course.Went to devices and printers and the printer is there so clicked on it to make it the default and a message came up saying if I did this windows would no longer take over printer options. So I right clicked on the printer and there were the options to print and scan.Guess windows10 has it's own driver?Anyway it works fine without installing anything. Thanks for everyones help.

I also have this problem with a LaserJet 6L. My solution ? I got Ubuntu to replace Win-10 and it had the printer operative in 10 seconds. So long Microsteal.
