    Take a look at my WDC MY Passport Ultra USB 3.0 HDD...

    Take a look at this picture from CrystalDiskInfo -

    Note that I circled TRIM.
    How does an HDD have TRIM listed as a feature?

    There's more to it but later...

    Thanks.

    Crystal Disk is less than crystal? Looks like it probably is a CDI feature misinterpretation. Unless you have a magical old 5400rpm spinner!

    HI Dick -

    The problem is that W10 Optimizes and performs TRIM on this HDD.
    Crystal is reporting that TRIM is a feature, lol.

    I posted a similar thread on this a way back but WDC says it's not their drive problem.

    Strange.

    What does Speccy report on it? Just to backup CDI data.

    Actually, Speccy and AIDA64 state that TRIM is enabled, lol.

    Got me on this one.

    I though that it might include an SSD as a cache, but I found no information on that. I didn't even spot the size of the RAM cache.

    @Compumind

    An obscure site I ran into looking for info on this (curiosity!!). I don't pretend to even try to understand all of it, but maybe you can decipher all their "TRIM" jargon....

    @f14 -

    Interesting, thanks!

    The above post is a interface test for Linux.
    Seems that the WDC reporting is not limited to the Windows environment.

    I will look into this with WDC Level 3 Technical Support and see what they have to say.
    They might need a drive firmware fix.

    Good find.
