    No printer icon....

Having problems as no Brother printer icon is appearing in Printers & Devices so unable to select it as default on Win 10 despite drivers being installed ok, yet it works fine on my back up Win 7.

Any ideas what could be the cause ?

    Thanks

Are you connected to the printer via USB, Ethernet or Wireless? If not by cable, then go to the Menu on the printer, print a configuration page. This will tell you if the printer has an IP address and is connected wirelessly.
If so, then you press the Win key+R and in the Run box type the IP address of the printer (ie)\\192.168.0.10 or whatever, then press enter. You can also Ping the printers IP address from an Elevated Command Prompt. You can also type the IP address in your browse to get a configuration page.
If connecting by cable, check the connection and change the cable
In Devices and Printers, go to the toolbar and click Add Printer, If it doesn't detect your printer, you can type in the IP Address in the next window.

Then Check the USB Cable, change cables, change USB ports (Ie) plug directly into the Back USB port (desktop) and not the front as that is a weaker port.

Also, try a USB 2.0 port instead of a USB 3.0 port. It will make a difference depending on how old the printer is.

For some reason slightly older to older printers don't like USB 3 [blue] ports while the USB 2 [black] ports work just fine. Same could apply to USB 3 Hubs. USB 3 is supposed to be backward compatible to USB 2 devices.
