Interesting, something is messing with the text, first I've ever seen.

The site currently seems to be down completely.

From the Wayback Machine I can see a recent achieved copy of that page.

It's all Japanese to me, but the download links are recognisable - and the download itself runs in English.

It is Chinese . May be it was temporarily down. I accessed it just now to check.. And yes, the downloaded program itself will be in English. Below is the website translated into English.

One can download it from other websites also, but I always prefer to download anything direct from the authors' website.

    HI all,
An update - I have downloaded the utilities, backed up the MBR and bookmarked
this thread. The system is back as it was (almost) . All data is available, all the partitions that
should boot, boot. Linux was restored with the latest version of Testdisk (7.1) running under
Windows 8.1. The deeper search was necessary and then carefully reviewing the results and making sure
the found partitions display their files, and that the partition types are as they should be.
Then press enter for the final partition table summary and write it.

Linux boots from Grub loaded on the second HDD, as well as XP as it did before

One curious thing, Testdisk insisted on making the second partition (adjacent to the boot),
primary instead of logical - not sure why ; I don't think it matters -
    the partition is data only.
Thanks again to those that helped, also to Mr. Grenier, the author of Testdisk
As usual, I missed your last ( the above quoted) post because Berton had initiated the next page and I did not roll back to see page 2. I saw it only now when I was reviewing the whole thread.

As I wrote already, you had done an excellent job especially in making your disk bootable by using FixMBR blah blah .

As regards primary and extended partition, when the rules of the game allow you to create three primary and an extended partition for the fourth( wherein you can create as many logical partitions as you please ), it is always better to adhere to it. Logical partitions are always troublesome when it comes to data recovery or even partition recovery. May be TestDisk is enforcing that rule .

You may mark this thread as solved so that it will be helpful for others who may have such complicated partition structure - a mix of Windows partitions and Linux partitions and a complicated process to restore.

I'm still having problems accessing the site...
    The connection has timed out
The server at www.ipauly.com is taking too long to respond.
...for anyone else having the same trouble you could download from the Internet Archive copy of the author's website, link in post #22. That's as near to downloading from the author's site as you can get.

One last thing, Disk Management in Windows 8 does not agree with Testdisk running in Windows 8.
Why there should be this discrepancy I've no idea, but as you can see D.M. identified the Linux
at the end as primary, while Linux + swap are clearly logical when you analyse the current structure
    in Testdisk:
