Haven't heard of any problems. What are you seeing [need details]? Guess one could always delete the drivers and then reinstall the drivers from the computer manufacturer.

I don't think it can be changed to 3.0 or 2.0. Its a hardware device, not a software device.

Most BIOSes have built-in support for USB 2 ports but need the Operating System loading device drivers for USB 3. Maybe some of the very new motherboards have built-in USB 3 support but haven't seen one yet.

Well I didn't think it was a possibility because it is hardware related, thanks anyway.

The only drawback would be if your particular USB 3.1 happens to be on a C format connector, in that case, you would need a USB C to USB adapter. I use one for a USB 3.0 4 port HUB I use a similar Adapter cable to this one only 1' long for my notebook

It not type "C". I was just checking for the possibility of downgrading, the PC has a 3.0 port also.

Still don't have a clue to the problems caused by USB 3.1, no description given.

External USB3 and non-C 3.1 ports are compatible with USB2 and even USB1,1 devices. Most USB3 devices are compatible with USB2 external ports (connectors) but would work only at USB2 speed. Some non-memory devices like some printers refuse to work in USB3 ports.
On MB side they are quite different. USB1,1 and USB2 are same, just work at different speeds. USB3 and USB3.1 first generation are also same but USB3.1 second generation are different and much smaller. Difference between USB3 and USB3.1 are just in protocol they are using and electrically are same. Motherboards usually have separate chips for USB3 and up and should have a setting in BIOS to enable/disable them.

Barton, do a search on the internet and you will find that there are issues with 3.1 that they are still working one, here is a start: https://www.howtogeek.com/353410/3-p...-need-to-know/

CountMike, I cloned my hard drive to a USB 2.0 stick with no problem and it will boot in the USB 3.0, but not in the 3.1, it goes into a repair mode.
