Dropped laptop charger; could it be broken?

This is the first time something like this has happened, I dropped my laptop charger.

It's for this laptop: Dell Inspiron i5577-7342BLK-PUS,15.6" Gaming Laptop, (Intel Core i7,16GB,512GB SSD),NVIDIA GTX 1050.

I was dropped from about waist height in a sitting position onto the ground, which is carpet. I was in the library when it slipped out of my lap. I was checking for bent cables and whatnot.

Could it be damaged doing this? I sure hope not, I don't really have the time and money to buy another charger. Worst case scenario, I think, is that it just doesn't charge anymore

Unlikely. You could check its output voltage, although that's only 1 parameter.

Have you tried plugging it into the mains (not the PC, just into the wall socket)? My Dell charger has a blue LED in the plug for the PC. If your does and it lights up, then it would seem safe to try it in the PC.

Was it plugged into the PC when you dropped it? The most common 'damage' on a Dell charger seems to be when the plug for the PC get's pulled out of the laptop violently. The centre pin is not for power, it caries an ID signal that the laptop uses to identify the charger. If this wire gets broken inside the plug the laptop can no longer recognise the charger and determine its power output. If that is the case the charger will still power the laptop, but won't charge the battery.
