When I right clicked on the WinToUSB drive (G)....the option to 'Extend volume' is grayed out....so I am unable to use it.
@Milton, you can use Diskpart to clean it - same as you did for your Toshiba in this post...

Then you can create a new partition using all of the usb and format it as ntfs.

Cleaned the WinToUsb drive (G) with DiskPart as suggested and now it just says USB Drive (G).
I cannot seem to be able to format it with either NTFS or FAT(Default) ?

I think what you said about creating a partition is probably what I didn't completely understand....and may have bypassed that step ?

I think I need you to guide me through that step.

Open Disk Management. Right-click on the unallocated space on your usb drive and select 'New simple volume...'. The New Simple Volume Wizard that opens will let you create and format a new partition. You will be able to select ntfs format at one of the steps.

    See most recent screenshots 5 & 6.

Everything appears back to normal again.

Thank you for saying so. My career before I retired was in IT support, I found that most people can understand more about computers than they thought possible if you explain carefully enough.

Milton, I'd suggest getting a good free Partitioning Tool if you like playing with Drives , I still use Minitool Partition wizard 9.1 but I know Version 10 has been out some time....

As a side note I believe it will format drives larger than 32GB Fat32 ....it doesn't remove the single file 4gb restriction though.

    @ Kbird

I think that's my main problem. I do enjoy messing about with drives, new software programs etc. without really understanding how powerful or destructive some of these programs can be etc. Some of these programs in the wrong hands (like mine) can become 'weapons of mass destruction'....but hey, you never learn anything by staying in your comfort zone. For example I have around 20 programs dealing with video editing that I've installed myself....apart from a few that came pre-installed when I bought this computer.
Unfortunately I don't think I'm as clever.... as I like to think I am.
