    Windows 10 audio crackling

    Hello

I'm getting crackling in my PC during games and YouTube videos. since I got it back from the shop and it was installed with Windows 10 (previously Windows 7). The issue seems to be caused by certain pitches in tones in whatever it is that i'm doing.

I tested the issue with other headphones and they all suffered the issue. I made sure my drivers were up to date and reinstalled them. I also went as far as to order and external sound card from amazon which seemed to just make the problem louder.

    I have tried things like
*Testing the DPC latency which was in the green
    *Turning audio enhancments off
    *Changing to different sound formats
*setting the mininum prossessor state to 100%
    *Disableing exlusive mode

    Specs:
    Windows 10 Home 64-bit

    AMD Phenom II X4 965

    8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz

    ASRock 970 Extreme3

    2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

931GB TOSHIBA MK1059GSM ATA Device (SATA)

    Apower AK series 800w

Any help is much appreciated thx!

Asrock appears to claim your MBO is Win 10 compatible.

Have you considered a BIOS update?
    ASRock Windows 10

And of course- consult the shop... after all, they undertook the upgrade, so are responsible for making sure everything still worked.

Note that sometimes people find with win 10 upgrades that they may need to use a particular older driver rather than 'the latest' to resolve issues.

Have you examined your task manager when the crackle occurs? Any unusual resource usage?
Defender / high CPU usage issues with 1803 are not uncommon. There are some bugs...

Further analysis: you could use the
    Windows Performance Recorder

Hi thanks for your help and sorry for the long response time I just started school today and chaos has ensued :P

Anyway I have considered updating the bios, the only thing stopping me is that i'm afraid of breaking more stuff as I don't have any experience with it.

My uncle actually owns the shop I use only reason I haven't brought it back there is that its an hour away and my parents hate the drive. I'm going to try the task manger stuff now thx!
