Hard drive shows up in This PC, but not Intel Rapid Storage

I have two eternal hard drives hooked up to my motherboard. I can see them both in This PC and can copy and delete files from both. I actually wiped them both clean and formatted them on this new PC that I just built, and everything seemed fine until I installed Intel Rapid Storage software. It immediately gave me a warning saying something was wrong. I opened it and it only shows one of the two external drives. The same drive shows up in the File History Backup feature, while the other one does not. It doesn't give any info about the issue or error with the other drive. What can I do to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

After installing Intel Rapid Storage, can you Still see both drives in File Explorer? If not
Press the Win key+X and choose Disk Management. In the Disk Management window in the lower pane what does it say about your External Drives?

Yes, I can still see both drives in the File Explorer. I can still click on both and open them up and drag files onto them. The drive that's not showing in Rapid Storage or the File History backup feature is actually the drive that I put files on. It has almost half of its space taken up with files that I put on it from this computer after I wiped it clean and formatted it via Disk Management. The other drive that does show up in Intel rapid Storage doesn't have any files on it yet. Both drives say 'Healthy" in Disk Management. Could it have anything to do with which SATA ports they are hooked up to?

Is Intel Rapid Storage known to be worthwhile nowadays on Windows 10??

I haven't researched it in about 3 years when I was still on Windows 7, but at that time it offered little or no improvement and was hardly a requirement.

I know what you mean. I don't even really use it, but thought I might as well install it, and now it shows this error. The thing is, though, the missing drive in Intel Rapid Storage is also missing from the File History backup list of drives. So there must be an issue.

And now I'm having other issues in Windows 10, that I just discovered. I really want to like this OS, but there have been lots of issues, so far. I have 3 programs that I installed that won't even open. They immediately crash when you try to run them. I have many other programs that do run without issues, but I don't think I have ever encountered a program that wouldn't run right after installation, and I have 3 such programs, and these programs are on a different drive than the two drives I'm talking about in this thread. The programs are on my m.2 drive that Windows is installed on.

Install IRST to get the Intel disk driver then uninstall IRST. Your disk controller should be something like iaStorA.sys.

While using a program called Paragon Backup & Recovery, the drive that seems to be the issue is marked as "Intel RAID 1 Volume." Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I never setup RAID. I simply wiped this drive and reformatted it via Disk Management, just like the other external drive I have.

    1) Update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

    2) Open the BIOS:
List of PC brands with their corresponding hot-keys

    3) Check for these options:
    RAID
    AHCI
    IDE

    4) Make the applicable selection in the BIOS.
If you want RAID then you can use the Intel rapid storage technology software.
If you don't want RAID then select ACHI.

I checked the BIOS and it's set to ACHI, so that wasn't the cause of it. Anyone else know how to get this RAID 1 Volume off a drive? I don't even know how it got on there.
