    Micro SD Card Help


    I have a Dell Venue 8 Tablet. A 64 Gb. Micro SD Card is plugged in and exFat formatted. I have around 40 Gig's of data on this card. Right now, I'm having a problem with the Tablet and am trying to transfer all the data to my Desktop.

    the card is not being read by the Desktop. I have used a Micro SD to SD Adapter card, keeps saying to insert media. I have a multi-card reader that plugs into the USB port. And am being told to insert disc. I cannot read the card. Properties of the card shows 1 Meg. I've plugged it back into the Tablet and it works, no problem. Both have Windows 10, 1803.

    Can anyone help? I can't loose this Data.

    Windows 10 can work with an exFAT-formatted drive, I have an External WDC 4TB formatted as exFAT attached to my computer. Having "1 Meg" capacity and/or contents on it says the issue may be with the card, adapter or USB port. In such a situation I try booting to a Linux LiveDVD to check the hardware access [actually have a Linux Mint computer running] and then transfer the data to a different drive followed by reformatting the card. Linux can work with a number of formats, usually more than Windows. One other point you may know, Windows has a 32GB limit when using the FAT formatting, Linux doesn't so you could format the card as FAT32 at the full size [minus a bit the formatting needs]. The program/app Linux uses is GPARTED [partition editing], also available as a download of an .iso file used to create the bootable disc.
