Suggest you try the program I last listed. However, be prepared for the worst.

Oh that's what that was- thanks. I'm not familiar with it personally, but know it has a good reputation. I used it one of theirs many years ago.

A very much outside possibility is try connecting it via a caddy as a USB drive.

If the drive's not visible by any means, then research data recovery specialists.

Here's an example (I know nothing about them):

Doesn't sound good. You may need to take it to a specialist. They can sometimes replace the controller and access the data. Bit tricky to try it yourself.

By some miracle, I restarted the computer with it plugged in and there was an automatic scan and repair thing that come up (that never came up before no matter how long I waited). It ran threw 0-100% three different times...each time getting stuck around 67%, 68% and 69%. When the computer finally booted I was able to transfer everything off the drive, however it was sooooooooo slow. I had the task manager up watching the performance which would be at 100% transferring the littlest files.
I finally got it all! I'm using Flickr for Photos, Onedrive for other misc. files, and multiple flash drives for other things. Won't be able to get a new drive til Tuesday...going to end up replacing both drives as threw this whole mess I've noticed bad sectors on my SSD as's about three years old and I don't mind getting new and starting fresh.
My current SSD is 256GB I believe but I'm going to go ahead and get a 500GB which would be's not like I really used the whole 256GB before anyways. Then I'll get another 1TB HDD for my secondary storage whilst still holding my important can't loose photos on Flickr.

You're very lucky. If it's a mechanical problem I guess it could stop and start (used to be 'stuck heads' - virtually a thing of the past). Bear in mind these things spin at 5400rpm or greater with tiny tiny clearances. Then there are the electronics..

Now look to creating and maintaining backups .... and discard that disk.

Greetings. Where does the MailApp store the emails it downloads? In Windows Live Mail 2012 you can select a folder where you want it (away from C:\). But I can't find anything about that in the mail-app? :o
