    how to remove partitions from backup hdd


    I want to clear the partitions from a 1 tb backup drive
    I tried deleting the partitions by formatting them but it only removed the files in the partitions and the partitions are still there. see pic below
    How can I remove the 4 partitions so I can use the hdd to clone a drive image on ithow to remove partitions from backup hdd-bu-disk.jpg

    First, you better make darn sure the disk is no longer your boot priority disk!
    Then, starting from right to left, delete the partitions, then, again from right to left, extend partitions.

    If stuck, use Minitool Partition Manager (free) which can do this on boot.

    Don't forget to click 'Apply'

    You can delete them using Diskpart in an admin command window. However, I would use MiniTool Partition Wizard which is far easier to use.
