make dvd auto-run / manual run in my w10 pc.

Hello I wanted to run a dvd today but it will not run at all in my Windows Media Player..
I then tried the CyberLink DVD suite and that also wouldn't auto run but I could get it to run from a manual start.

What do I need to do to make WMP work please.

Also the dvd has a pdf file on it that I want to print out but so far I haven't been able to find it, and help with the above issues will be much appreciated.

    many thanks

    Best.

You can't. The ability to play DVDs was removed from the Windows Media Player in Windows 10 (along with other media features like the Media Centre) allegedly the costs of licences was becoming prohibitive.

You should however be able to make a DVD autoplay in Cyberlink (or VLC if you have that installed).

Right-click on the DVD drive when it has a DVD in it, then choose 'Open AutoPlay...'

Then pick your player of choice, for me it's VLC...

Then you won't need to start your player manually, just put the DVD in the drive..

Cheers Bree thanks for the speedy reply. J had seen VLC mentioned in a general Google search but thought best to come here and ask.
I'll follow your instructions a little later.

    Many thanks, Bree to the rescue . . . . . . again.

In File Manager right-click on the DVD and select Open. You should then be able to browse it in File Manager like any other disk and look for the .pdf file.

    Literally 'again' in this case.

    Here's one I made earlier...
