Win mem test ran twice with no errors.

I think I know what caused the drain: my sudden on and off of the laptop not an overnight drain.

Now that BSOD will dump a file (maybe). If it happens again, I'll post it.

    thanks.

The BSOD may have been a one time event.
If there are recurrent problems with BSOD you can open a new thread for troubleshooting.

It seems my Forum Notifications aren't working so I didn't see this earlier.....

My guess would be that like my Surface3, your Surface Book got an update for Win 1803 but for some reason the Update Page has not been Updated, I was just going by that page , the one for my Surface 3 has always been right when i checked it.

Unless yours is not a Surface Book or a different Model eg it has LTE like some Surfaces and that page I linked to is the Wrong Model number.

I tested my Surface 3 the last few Days again and it still does the same thing as your Surface Book , if I let it sleep instead of turning it off , ie 1 day later I wake it up , it says battery is really low and then shuts off almost immediately ...

kbird, are your background apps disabled? If not all, mostly all. Thanks

To be honest I don't run alot of Apps on it , been a long while since I ran a sleep study to see what the cause was , but I think in your other post you mentioned the "Always Connected" paradigm and I seem to remember that as the issue after watching a M$ Video on battery life Issues with the Surface Machines and how to do a Sleep study etc , but that was over a year ago , maybe longer.

As mentioned I just turn it off now when finished as it doesn't take that long to boot up anyway.... and long term since it has a fixed battery , the less charges the better each week/month/year...

edit: these are the two pages I looked at back then....

Well I would check my background apps and ensure they are mostly disable. (Within Privacy)

Can you hibernate your surface? Not sure if Connected standby is active in hibernation, I would think not.

This might be faster than power on although power normally uses windows Fast Startup.

Thanks Ken , I went through Privacy and made a few changes including turning off All background Apps as a test for now

I don't use Hibernate on the Surface , though I haven't used power Config to disable it totally as that also disables Fast startup AFAIK.
