    Marvell 91xx Controller Puzzle

    I have a Sabertooth X58 m/board with Marvell 91xx Controller.
    Marvell_SATA_V1.2.0.1047 drivers are installed.
Everything seems to be working fine but I have two issues puzzling me.
The first arose when I ran Seatools for Windows and found that it did not detect the two drives on the 6 Gb/s ports.
While investigating this is found that the Marvell Controller is not shown in DEVMGMT.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Hairy Scot

So is another driver ( a Microsoft generic ) installed in it's place.

Does your MB vendor have a Marvell driver listed for your board on their site?

My Gigabyte motherboard needs to have a Marvell driver installed. Iv'e found it more reliable to use the Intel SATA interfaces. I disabled the Marvell SATA interface in the BIOS since I don't need it.

    Device manager shows:-
    Attachment 196896
I have the recommended drivers installed.

Are there any unidentified devices in device manager?

I went to Asus (assumption) and looked up Sabertooth X58

They do have Marvell drivers listed under Win 7 64. Of course as board was not tested under 10 there is a limited list.

You said the controller is working, wonder where it is listed. Might be red herring but I don't even see you Intel controller listed.

If you use imaging software you could image, then try install and check dev manager.

    Out of option rom space?

Is the controller enabled in bios? If so I would download "lspci for windows". Search that term and download it from eternallybored and run it in an authorized command window. Type 'LSPCI -nn -v' and look for your controller. Also is your bios modded? Got to check if your out of option rom space.

The controller is enabled in bios.
Aside from my settings the BIOS is not modded, it is as it was delivered with the board.

    lspci-nn-v shows:-
    01:00.0 SATA controller [0106]: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9123 PCIe SATA 6.0 Gb/s controller [1b4b:9123] (rev 11) (prog-if 01 [AHCI 1.0])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device [1043:8438]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0
    I/O ports at bc00
    I/O ports at b880
    I/O ports at b800
    I/O ports at b480
    I/O ports at b400
    Memory at f9eff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3
    Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit-
Capabilities: [70] Express Legacy Endpoint, MSI 00

Not sure what that all means.

Perhaps I'll try turning off the Marvell setting in BIOS and see what happens.

    Didn't try that.

It's not a train smash so I think I'll just leave things asis.

What that all means is that your controller is active in the Windows environment. I bet if you show hidden devices in device manager it will show itself. You probably need to try a different driver to get it recognized. I would right click on properties on that Microsoft Storage Space controller and see if the hardware ids match your Marvel controller. If so go to Win-Raid.Com or Station-Drivers and download upto date drivers. If non of that works maybe the drives are not good..
