ok hit a snag here
when i use Regshot no matter whether I use the ANSI or UNICODE exe (I honestly dont know the difference) the program keeps hanging without completing
I am using the option of just SHOT
sometimes it hangs when its running the 1st shot
otherwise it definetly hangs at some point when its running the 2nd shot
anything else i can use?
You have to be patient- it may take a couple of minutes. Sometimes it looks as if it's doing nothing.
I find it ticks up to here, then the buttons grey out... then you wait, have some coffee, phone a friend..

red X? Since it's scanning the registry, if it does hang, that might suggest a problem...

It may be interesting to try this.. click on the button View All Events to get a customised Event Viewer view.
Do you have a means of enabling and disabling the touchpad? How are you doing that?
When I think it's hanging the x in the top right turns red and all the counters at the bottom stop.
I can enable / disable the touchpad by going Into mouse properties and the Elan tab
