Ok, so whilst you're experimenting, drivers should be stable. The difficulty with hiding an update is knowing when it's coming... so you can hide it before it downloads. Then of course that only hides that update, and not the next one...
So looks I've stopped all updates right?
Should /can I reverse this?
Your post #50 = you have stopped all driver updates. No USB driver updates, no graphics driver updates...
But Windows updates are still enabled, as are Windows Defender updates and App updates.
The touchpad keeps disabling when I am doing random things.
e.g i was in a google sheet and it disabled
i was just on a web page filling something in and it disabled
I then go to mouse properties and see that the Elan touchpad has been disabled and I click to enable it again?
Any ideas whats causing this? Is this to do with the driver Im using?
Myself I think it is a driver. Which driver are you using for touch pad, by this which version of Elan or are you just using the MS one.
I think you said you have a mouse connected as well, could be my imagination. Could you try disconnecting mouse and seeing if behaviour changes.
If you could also go to the "Advance Power Settings" you should see an entry for USB settings and withing that USB Suspend. Could you disable that.
As well open up device manager, find touch pad, right properties. Is there a Power Management tab. If so disable the ability of the computer to shut off device to save power.
I'm using the Elan one v 15.8.x
Ill have a look at the other settings too.
I sometimes use the usb mouse (FYI it's a wireless mouse so only the receiver is plugged in) but not often
Could try the MS one but I don't have a driver so I'm assuming windows picks this up itself when I was in win pe.
I don't have the elan 15.8 driver either so would need to locate that if we were to switch which I assume would be by uninstalling elan and letting windows install?
