    TouchPad problem

    I have a Toshiba s50 , i7 laptop and the touchpad/smartpad has stopped working.

This has been an intermittent ongoing issue for months and months.

    I have tried the following

    - uninstalling and reinstalling drivers

    - ensuring the touchpad is enabled via control panel and settings

    - ensuring the touchpad is active is windows 10 settings

a few months ago I could install an older version of the driver and it would work, but after a while it would stop working.

last week i decided to look in the control panel settings and saw the touchpad had been disabled so I enabled it. hey presto it started working perfectly again.

2 days ago I went into the mouse settings to increase the size of the mouse pointer and once i applied this, the touchpad stopped working again and I havent managed to get it to work since.

I have exhausted many avenues and considering rebuilding it but that seems a bit drastic. Ive read that the issue could be windows 10 rather than the drivers.

    please please please help

    Thanks

    Hi Bart

I had a weird problem with a Toshiba. It thought it had a Lenovo touchpad. Please ensure windows has the right device.

Then I would set windows to not update drivers. This likely happened after you you installed old drivers. Option 4 this tutorial.

Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10

Next open up device manager, expand your mouse and other pointing devices, click on view (top of page), click on show hidden devices.

Delete all hidden devices and delete your current touchpad. If asked delete software (drivers) for any device.

    Install your old driver.

I have managed to get the TouchPad to work by reinstalling the function key utility for the laptop.

However when I press fn and 5 I don't get anything onscreen to say the TouchPad is enabled or disabled which I did when I first had the laptop.

For now though the damn thing is working that God

Is that what the drivers are when you go to Toshiba's site?

I tried but I need complete model number to find.
