I'll start by saying I am using an almost similar Toshiba Laptop, there are some hardware differences, as you will know hardware can be different in the same model e.g. mine has a Synaptics Touchpad, yours an Elan, and so forth.
I know the confusion of looking up drivers on the Toshiba website, fortunately you will only need a few Toshiba specific ones*.

There are NO yellow triangles in my Device Manager at all, it has only had Windows updates for 4 years and a few Toshiba specific ones which either came thru Windows updates, *selected downloads from the Toshiba website, and BIOS/UEFI updates via Toshiba Desktop Asistant.

Your post #15 that shows the Driver Store, that does not show 3 Touchpad drivers installed, it is showing previous driver installs cached so that Windows can Roll back drivers.
That will show up a lot of hardware drivers of stuff you may have connected at some point thus adding confusion and irrelevent information.

A few initial questions
1) What is your BIOS/UEFI version.
2) Do you have the Toshiba desktop assistant installed.

You have a USB mouse connected looking at your posts, so why worry about the Touchad.
I always use one, however the touchpad(Synaptics) also works correctly(I just don't like them).
If you go to the Toshiba support site the Windows 7 64 bit ELAN driver 11.8.22.3 is the latest given, personally I would go to Windows updates.

My Touchpad(the other brand, Synaptics) is not listed in HID.
On yours it looks like it is appearing as a PS/2 device(could be the way ELAN do it).
The other listed HID-compliant mouse would be a USB mouse you have connected.

If that's what you have done then it is deliberate sabotage. I'm not surprised your drivers are in such a mess.

It's great to see such help here as on other forums I was getting nothing.

I prefer to use the TouchPad and not the usb mouse. I only started to connect this once my TouchPad stopped working.

From what I remember I'm running the latest available bios as when I last looked at the Toshiba drivers it was the most up to date

Atm I'm actually having problems getting into the bios as its not responding to the F2 or ECS options

I only did the reg edit as I was advised to stop windows updates due to the issues this might be causing

I thought I was successfully using the 11.x driver but am using the 15.8.x driver

My issue is now that it's working why does it intermittently just stop work and get disabled

I believe you said you tried the older driver so I went looking for new drivers and came across this for 1803. I suspect if I had searched different terms it may have shown a different version in title

From the How To Geek article they mention drivers at softpedia so I searched there as well and found drivers as high as V24

They also have V18.2.25.4.

I generally don't use third party sites for drivers. If I used, since How to Geek mention softpedia, I would likely go with them. You have to be very careful in my opinion that you don't get other "Packaged" stuff from any site. Also fully scan before double clicking.

Maybe other members could voice their opinions on sites to use. Interesting that in the How To Geek they mentioned just using Microsoft's driver can work well.

So the drive easy article supports to disable windows updates too...

As the touchpad is working in win pe and within this it doenst display the touch pad driver is there anything else I need to do to try and stop the TouchPad from stopping to work

Ah shit shows what a noob I am.
So I'm not sure if I've disabled all updates or just the driver one.

Can I reverse the process?
