    Change assigned drive letters

Haven't done this in a while. Never in W-10
    Want to move and reassign:
On Disk 0 (F) becomes (D) 15 MB assigned by OS
On Disk 1 (H) becomes (E) Second SSD drive
On Disk 2 (D) becomes (F) First HDD used for storage
On Disk 3 (E) becomes (G) External 1 GB for File History, stays plugged in
    CD-ROM 0 becomes (H)

I get confused on like changing (F) to (D) What happens to data. Or when (H) becomes (E)

    Hello cfourkays,

The data on the drives will be fine when you change drive letters.

However, any shortcuts you may have to the old drive letter will break when you change it.

You need interim stages because you cannot, for example, change F to D when D already exists. So change F to M then D to F then M to D.

What does "15 MB assigned by OS" mean? If the OS is using a drive then Disk mgmt should not let you change it at all.

Try3 Thanks to you and Brink (of course) for the quick reply.I sort of assumed that (F) somehow was created when I did a reinstall. This is a new machine with everything new except the SSD which had the OS on it. Also, that New Volume (F) with 448 MB on it. I don't know where I got the 15 from, its 448. When I open it, it show empty even though DM shows 448 used on it. That's with nothing hidden. I could probably merge it with (C)

    I'll do as Denis suggests

If you like, you could also just remove the drive letter for "F:" if you wanted to leave the partition.
