If you scroll down in that screen shot what other devices are there? I ask as I see a 2 in front of the RIG 800HD in screen shot.

If you click on Properties for this device and then the advance tab, can you restore defaults and then use test button?

Might I ask under the general tab how does the Jack Information look since you are using USB?

Under the spatial sound tab have you tried one of the other options?

I think you said this already but your speakers work fine, right?

If you go to device manager, should be first category, audio inputs and outputs, expand this category. Then on the view tab click show hidden devices.

Myself I would delete any hidden devices just to ensure there is not a conflict with a device that is not installed.

On the TenForums site there is Kyhi's Recovery boot disk. Might be a lot of work but if you created disk and booted from it and then connected your headset. My thinking here is that the headset will work as the boot disk is current but not V1803.

From there you could see exactly what drivers are being used in the "Sound video and game" category and the "Audio input and outputs". These could be then compared to what V1803 is using. I would also concentrate on the drivers under the USB controller heading.

I tried searching and came up with some hits, saw your userid on one.

Other things to try... Audio Troubleshooter or an inplace repair. I would think that if this was a common issue with your headset and V1803 you would see way more hits on google. Does plantronics have a forum?

hidden device removal did nothing but at least i now know that the latest windows update caused this issue, it's the only thing that changed, i confirmed it by hooking up my headset to my friends seldom updated pc and it works.

i'll google for V1803 audio fixes after i sleep.

Please look at the drivers in the sections I mentioned on friends machine. You should be able to load them manually if required, you just need to know which ones or at least how it is mis-identifying.

I too googled it and no immediate fix apparent.

Was this problem ever solved? Wish you had posted what fixed the issue. Just got a set of RIG 800HD's the other day, worked fine until I restarted the PC now I get no sound outside of the voice telling me it's powered on and connected.

This happened to me once, it was simply a matter of the scroll wheel at the top being in the wrong position. Hopefully that's all your issue is.

I don't know if this will help, but I have the RIG 515HD, and if I install the driver from Plantronics site or the one from Windows Update (depending on windows version) it breaks the head set. I get no sound at all. It is a C-Media version that enables the silly fake "7.1" surround sound (version 10.0.01.2x). If I force the generic MS Windows driver (currently 10.0.17763.1), it works fine.

I have had this exact problem today (Feb 1, 2023) and to fix it I went to settings, removed the RIG headset, unplugged the USB dongle for the headset and plugged it back in. It works like expected. <2 minutes to fix
