"Safely remove hardware" icon not showing.

Here we go. So the "safely remove hardware" icon is not showing. To be fair, it shows randomly, no matter if I have or have not an USB connected. It's totally random. For example, if I can't see it now, I close session or reboot, and it appears.

It started to happen after the last big update in april.

Any clue? I just checked is not hidden, and is selected to appear on the taskbar.

Do you have this reg entry?
    • Press keyboard "win + R"• Type "regedit"• Search the value "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\Microsoft.Explor er.Notification.{...}"• If your REG_DWORD 0x00000001(0) is set "0" you can double click on value. Set the value data to "1"• Click "OK"

Hm.. don't have that entry... Should I add it?

Oh, by the way, I found that first link you posted. I followed one of their solutions, which consist on uninstall all the USB devices, and let the system reinstall them. Also, I uninstalled my smart card reader, as I saw it had an exclamation icon on it. Then, I let Windows to reinstall it, and it seems ok.

I'll see if the problem persists on the next days. If so, I'll take in count the rest of the links too.

I would recommend moving on to the next three suggestions.
I don’t know how adding the entry would affect your PC.

I know if there are no USB devices connected it doesn't show so that's fine.
For me it is the internet connection icon which can disappear but logging out then in usually makes it reappear.
