Updates on old laptop
I have an old Gateway laptop computer, see specification below, that I still use as a reserve machine having suffered multiple problems with Windows 10 on my everyday machine. Those problems thankfully now seem to have been sorted out. I appreciate that W10 strains the specification for my Gateway. GATEWAY MT6839bINTEL CORE 2 CPU T5300 @ 1.73GHzRAM 2GB64-BIT OS, X64 BASED PROCESSORWINDOWS 10 PRO UPDATE KB4021701The reason for this post is that for update KB4134662 installed on 10th June I had serious problems with the Gateway. The principle one was that I could not use the internet. I tried all the trouble shooting options without success. I checked the Device Manager settings and found that several devices had errors. The previous version of W10 was working well; I had already spent around 1 hour trying to fix problem, I did not want the hassle of finding new drivers if they existed. In other words I was well and truely pi..ed off!I then went back to the previous build. That operation took place efficiently and I had a reserve machine again. I take security on the internet very seriously and I therefore want to ensure as far as possible that I have the most up-to-date security features on my machines. My question IS THERE A WAY OF ONLY INSTALLING THE SECURITY PARTS OF WINDOWS UPDATES without 3d modeling, Cortana and all the other bumf that forms part of W10??? If so can some one please explain how to do so.Regards Terry Green
