How Can I Fix My Keyboard?

I have a wireless keyboard, with new batteries and after being out of the city for 2 months, it suddenly decided not to work - no key works! I checked settings, but everything looked o.k. What can I do to restore the keys operating again?

Sorry, I WASN'T CLEar enough. Whe n I returned, I THEN installed 2 new batteries. I don't have another pc with a detachable keyboard, but I'll try to find one to see if it works.

You can also try moving the receiver to a different USB port.

Receiver?

Unless it is a bluetooth keyboard, it will have a little square receiver that plugs into a USB port. If it is a bluetooth keyboard, then as cereberus stated, you might need to pair it again, which would probably required either a standard wireless keyboard with a USB receiver, or a wired keyboard.

I did some further checking and discovered the following. First, I was misled by the optical mouse. Although the cursor works, it couldn't register or open anything, like the keyboard. Next, I should have mentioned neither the mouse or the keyboard were aimed at the pc screen. They were aimed at a 40" monitor, which is connected to my laptop HP pc via an HDMI cable. I couldn't test the optical keyboard keyboard vs the connected keyboard, but I could remove the wired mouse from the pc and substitute the optical mouse which I then aimed at the pc. No problem! It works fine. So the problem isn't with Windows 10, but with the remote for the 40" monitor. I'm about to test the screen for both the mouse and the keyboard and will let you know what I find out. Wow!

I looked at the remote and clicked on HDMI and everything works! I'm sorry if I misled you(like ME!), but somehow I accidentally clicked on that and it screwed everyting up. So thanks for offering sound advice, given my strange problem. Bottom line is it's fixed!
