Disk Management shows HDD but Explorer doesn't

I'm working with a HDD where I want to remove partitions. I can see the disk and partitions in Disk Management but not explorer. I want to see the folders/files before I start deleting partitions.

This is a removeable disk in a disk bay.

How can I see this disk in Windows File Explorer?

Usually Disk Management has to assign a drive letter to partitioned drives before File Explorer will see it, I do it with my USB HDDs as they stay attached but let Windows do its thing with USB Thumb drives. I also have a 2-drive Dock for doing various work and let Windows assign a drive while it is in use.

In disk management, right click on the partition you want to explore and "change drive letter". Then assign it a drive letter.

Yes. I've assigned a drive letter Z to the HDD (disk 1) but WFM still doesn't recognize it.Disk Management shows HDD but Explorer doesn't-2018-06-02.png

It's because you have a memory card in a network attached printer also assigned to Z:. You have network storage devices assigned to V:, W:, Y:, Z:. Therefore you cannot assign those letters to physical drives.
