Hi Bree
I think the BCD Store is located in the 'Hidden' System Partition.
Volume 0 G DVDROM 0 B NO MEDIA
Volume 1 C OS NTFS PARTITION 371 GB HEALTHY
Volume 2 D NTFS PARTITION 906 MB HEALTHY
Volume 3 E DATA NFTS PARTITION 558 GB HEALTHY
Volume4 SYSTEM FAT32 PARTITION 260MB HEALTHY HIDDEN
That might be why some BCD commands don't work.
This is the error message (the boot manager, BCD Store might be on the wrong partition, only a guess),
'C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure that the device is connected or the disc is inserted, then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure that you're connected to the network or internet, then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.'
We're getting outside my comfort/experience zone here, but as I understand it - yes, the BCD should be in that Fat32 System partition.
These threads may help explain BCD a bit more...
No Windows Boot Manager on dual boot system (7 & 10)
Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image (post #340)If you want to see if Windows will boot, you can create a bootable USB stick with a temporary BCD on it which points to your Windows folder on the hard disk....
This may also be informative (but bear in mind this would be on an MBR system)....
https://mrlithium.blogspot.com/2011/...bcd-store.html
However, before doing anything to this drive that has the potential to wreck it further (if that's possible ) I would try to make a backup image of it on a external HDD so you have a fall-back possition. For that you need (preferably) Macrium Reflect - and for that you need to be able to boot Kyhi's rescue disk. Getting that to boot would be my top priority.
Please use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures of the commands and results seen when using Windows recovery.
(use 7zip to organize the images and one drive or drop box to post images into the thread)

Hi ZBook
Good news, created Kyhi's Rescue Disk; initially had problem with new Sandisk USB. I've set up an internet connection from the laptop that needs fixing. I did a stupid thing, went into Macrium Reflect; only used the fix boot tab; without backing up the original disk settings - after rebooting it just went into 'please wait' mode. Only thing I've noticed is the following, originally:
Disk### Status Size Free
Disk 1 - Online - 54GB - 24GB
now:
Disk### Status Size Free
Disk 1 - Online - 14GB - 0GB
Not sure what that means. (Is it the USB Stick? Windows 10 ISO / WPE)
