This is not a supported system. on E1705

    Hello world,
I am having trouble installing Quickset on a old E1705. It says the following

This is not an supported system. Setup cannot complete.
Is there a download link that supports win10 and for e1705?
the laptop (e1705) has Windows 10 and 4gb of ram.

Try running the installer in compatibility mode. Right-click on the installer .exe and select 'Troubleshoot compatibility'.

Try running the installer in compatibility mode...
From that download page it would appear to be XP compatible.

You show an HP Notebook/Laptop in your Computer Specs. Can it be assumed the question is about a Dell Inspiron E1705 Notebook? I think there was a Desktop of the same name, Dell does that. Might help to have more details about it. Which Version of Win10, does it meet the hardware requirements, either 32-bit/x86 or 64-bit/x64? I did find a reference on a Search of the Web that it may be over 10 years old.

    Identification and Background

The Dell Inspiron E1705 was one of the first laptop computers to integrate the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors. The E1705 was released in 2006, and at the time, it had the best graphics card Dell could offer, the Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950. It was meant to be used as a portable media center rather than a gaming laptop. The E1705 comes with a standard optical combo drive: 24x/10x/24x CD-RW and 8x DVD-ROM.

You do not say where you got your copy of the Dell QuickSet utility.

    - If it was by using your Dell ServiceTag to go to Dell drivers & downloads for your computer then trying to get your current copy to work by using compatibility modes is probably the most likely thing to succeed. Do check for any options available during installation - on one version I used there was an option to install the Base components only and that kept me going in Windows 10 on a different Inspiron model [either 9300 or 1545, my notes are a bit ambiguous].

    - If it does not succeed then try changing the Dell drivers & downloads page after you get there. Clear the checkbox for Show drivers for Service tag NNNNNN then progressively change the chosen operating system from the correct, original one for your computer to the newest one that your particular page will let you select. It might be the case that another version of your model used a later version of QuickSet that you can use successfully. There is no telling apart from trying it so do make a system image before any experiments.

    - Similarly, you could look through Drivers & downloads for other, similar, Dell Inspiron models but the chances that you could use one of them are not high.

    - You could also look around Dell's user forums for somebody else reporting how they succeeded getting a QuickSet that worked with Windows 10.

    - This guide might help you as well - Installing the Windows XP Version of Dell Quickset in Windows 7 32 Bit Unofficial Windows Guides

    - Finally, you could just give up. When I eventually gave up on QuickSet for my Inspirons [I think this was at Ver 1607], all I lost were the onscreen volume & brightness displays - Windows 10 provides decent ones anyway.

    Best of luck,
