enable num lock key not working. Is there another work around?

This is my second Win 10 laptop and am having a problem with the enable num lock fix. It worked like a charm on my first laptop so am not sure why It's not working this time.

I tried removing it and enabling three times but for some reason, it's not working.

    Any suggestions?

What is the Make and Model# of the laptop> As stated, Boot into Setup (Bios) Look to Advanced tab, or Integrated Peripherals. If Num lock is disabled, using your Enter and Arrow key, Enable it. Save and Exit.

Make and model is acer aspire ES1-533.

Not sure how to do this. Is there a more detailed description somewhere on how to do this?

Shut down the computer. Now start it up, press the F2 key at bootup to enter Setup (Bios) or follow these instructions

In the Bios, Go to the Advanced tab, Enable NumLock by selecting it by using the Arrow Key, and Enabling it by using the Enter and Arrow keys

When I go into Bios, I don't see an advanced tab. See attached photo.

    MRoy,

BIOSes vary. You need to look at each of your BIOS sections to find the NumLock entry. It might be on your Main or Boot pages - you can use a mouse to move around in many BIOSes otherwise you can generally get about using the tab & arrow keys. You might find it useful to photograph each page for future reference so you can check what is in your BIOS while you are within Windows.

Incidentally, I have no idea what you mean by "the enable num lock fix". I assume you are trying to set the NumLock key on / off at startup and you were referring to some utility that used to do that for you.

This is the fix I was given for my first Win 10 laptop. It made the num lock key stay on unless I turned it off.
    It worked great.

If your issue is with the sign-in screen then that TenForums tutorial is relevant so I think you will get more focussed assistance by posting there. I have always used the number keys along the top row of my keyboard for logging in not my numberpad so I have never needed to learn about this subject.

If your issue is with post-login use of NumLock, the BIOS controls the default state of this key so the comments in my previous post are relevant.

My issue is keeping the num lock key on unless I turn it off. The fix that I used on my first laptop addressed that and worked great. So far, I have been unable to find a fix that keeps my num lock key on unless I shut it off with my new laptop.

Even when I turn the num lock key on, after a certain length of time, it shuts itself off again. It is by far one of the most irritating things about Win 10. But Win 10 is one of the glitchiest versions of windows ever released.
