    Partition structure issues.

I have some questions about the meaning of the screenshot information below.
First: What is the significance of " *: " ? I'm guessing it means a partition without a drive letter.
Second: What is the difference between an unallocated partition and a partition with data. How do I add data or extend the other partitions to incorporate it.?
Finally: what is the meaning/use of that small partition between C: and the Unallocated chunk?
I don't want to blunder too far into this boot drive without understanding where I'm headed.
    Thanks!

    The * means no letter

Unallocated partition means there is no partition and you need to add one and format it etc.

Hard to see what the 1.99 GB partition is.

Rund this from a command prompt

    diskpart

    list volume

    and post image.

First - correct. Nor should it have one.
Second - free, unused disk space. You can use a full 3rd party partition manager such as Minitool Partition Wizard or the more limited Disk Management built in to Windows to extend partitions, move partitions, or shrink them.

Finally, as per cerberus's post - and if unsure about partition management, be very careful.

Last partition may be Over provisioning partition if it's an SSD. In that case should be left alone.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll continue working on this and report back when I get useful results.

You could use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free to peruse the contents of those partitions, identify what they are for then decide what to do.
